The production of dietary
supplements commenced in 2017.
Our History
KauPharma’s journey in food supplement manufacturing originates from pharmaceutical contract manufacturing for Finnish pharmacies.
In 2006, pharmacist Pekka Kaukonen established pharmaceutical contract manufacturing operations at Töysä Pharmacy. The first melatonin and folic acid tablets were produced at the Mäkiaho facility in Töysä (now part of Alavus). At the time, both products were prescription medicines, meaning that our operations were built on strong Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards from the very beginning.
Following changes in pharmacy ownership in 2016, the production facility underwent modernization and renovation. Manufacturing equipment and production systems were upgraded, creating the foundation for future growth.
Food supplement production officially began in 2017. The necessary approval for food supplement manufacturing was granted by the Finnish Food Authority at the start of operations, allowing KauPharma to expand its expertise from pharmaceutical manufacturing into high-quality food supplements.

Our Competitive Advantage
Our extensive expertise in pharmaceutical technology is one of our key strengths. Combined with competitive pricing and flexible production capabilities, we are able to manufacture batches of various sizes according to our customers’ needs.
This makes KauPharma an ideal partner for new product launches, as we can keep initial production volumes at a manageable level while a product establishes its position in the market.
We believe successful products are created through collaboration. That is why we work closely with our customers throughout the entire process, from concept and product development to manufacturing, packaging, and final delivery.
